Roman Holiday

Stretchhhh
Originally uploaded by The June.

I'm back after a break to Rome. I love travelling on my own. I've met some truly amazing people, and seen some breathtaking views. The only thing I continue to worry about is how the motor in me keeps running. I switch the power off when I go off on breaks so I can cool down, but every time I come back, I know I can expect an over heating soon. It's like the hamster who didn't stop running on his exercise wheel and eventually died of a heart attack. Incidentally, my hamster also died of a heart attack, but that was due to a lethal combination of obesity and heartache (Bacon died shortly after I left for the UK - I had tears in my eyes when I heard the news. I was barely moved when my grandfather died).

3 weeks before i'm allowed to skate again. On the morning I was supposed to leave for Rome, I couldn't get out of bed and had to be taken to hospital. The NHS in England are rubbish so you have to pretend to be REALLY ill if you want to be seen. Cyrene put me in a wheelchair and made me OW my way into the minor accidents unit. Turned out I messed up my lower back badly from landing on my bum too much and being run over by a bicycle. I need a new back.

Skate skate skate skate skate

Because this is a skate post, it deserves a different font/colour. I've been skating by the Lloyds building in Bristol. Millenium Square is always filled with people so it's a bit annoying, but back by the parking lots and across from the SS Great Britain is amazing to skate on because it's smooth pavements all the way. Well..ok..maybe not ALLLLLL the way, but you know..

I was also skating all over the downs on Sunday. There are breathtaking views of the Suspension Bridge from one spot but I found it ironic because as you skated towards it, the path got smoother, so that meant you could go faster and miss it altogether if you were going too fast. But then again I don't think you could miss it ALTOGETHER... and there probably isn't such a thing as going TOO fast...

This is what I am on about.

Life is good =)

Meep meep!

The shop I work at has got large glass windows through which you can watch the people go by. It's a busy street and occasionally, the sun shines through the clouds and casts beautiful shadows on the old buildings outside. Inside I am a road runner. I am always tempted to move really near my boss, go MEEP MEEP! and take off. I also feel like Spongebob because I work with Squidward at the Krusty Krab. Mr Krab is currently on holiday so I have changed the music from "Shop Music CD 1" to "Fat Boy Slim's Greatest Hits".

There sits a big plant where once was a lovely gap for a perfect view of the street. Sitting at the desk one might feel safe because the people outside can't see you as well, but to me it is a kind of oppression. When light bounces off the shiny cars and into the corner of my eyes, it is like eating in front of the famished.
